Truth or Dare.

So today I spent my evening with some amazing girls playing Truth or Dare on an iPod. We had a pretty crazy time. Some of the awesome stuff we tried...

I had to walk around with a sign taped to my back reading "Whistle if you think I'm cute." I still have it on, actually.

I also swallowed a spoonful of Mexican hot sauce.

We get to go through one girl's purse, while another girl had to admit her biggest crush (she backed out).

I had to drink a bottle of Coke in five seconds (I didn't quite make it) while another girl went outside and sang Baby (by Justin Bieber) at the top of her lungs.

I had to jump up and down for thirty seconds singing the national anthem, and one girl had to go outside and stand in the rain for a minute. Another girl wrapped herself up like a present and my friend Rachel put shampoo in her bangs for about ten minutes.

My sister had to melt a frozen strawberry in her armpit. It was really really awesome.

Rachel kissed someone's foot and somebody else had to kiss the person on her left's cheek after sucking on her toe.

Anyways, those are some of the things we tried. What do you do for this game?

Write away.

Wash your unicorn.

Hug a stranger.

Signing off,
Maddy

Oh, it has been too long.

I realize I haven't posted in quite a long time. Terribly sorry for that, and I won't bore you with details. I just haven't been able to.

So, lately, I've been having some bad days. Most the time I just want to flop down and curl up and cry or sleep or fly away or something. But then I realize the day is only bad because I'm looking at the glass half empty. I'm making my day bad.

Okay, that's not true. I'm not necessarily making it bad, but I am looking at it as bad and only bad, and that needs to change.

So for the past week I've been optimizing like crazy, and I've had bad days, but they've been good.

I'm not sure what kind of a blog post this is, but I really need to develop better blogging skills.

So, don't look at the glass half empty or full, to be honest. Just drink the water, and enjoy it.

My Birthday.

Warning: The post has nothing to do with writing. :)

My birthday was this past week. I had quite a lovely one. I stayed in my pajamas all day, slacked off school, and did lots of reading and writing.

These are the two cakes I made, a tomato soup cake, and an ice cream one...

Being a Girl.

So from the title you may think 'Oh, I don't want to read this!'...but I don't think it's what you...well, think. I'm just going to talk a little bit about things I've been thinking of lately.

As of late, I've been watching a few TV shows/movies, the like, and I started to wonder what girls meant in the world. In watching Mulan, I saw that girls were basically nothing in a man's eyes--a girl couldn't even speak in a man's presence. That kind of tickled me the wrong way (I don't think I said that right...). Because without women, there basically wouldn't be a world. We do all the work that's necessary to live--including bring men and women alike into the world. But it seems women are looked at in a way where we're just THERE in this world, and men do all the important stuff.

Now I'm not saying men aren't important either. They are. Very important.

But it just seems to me that women are the lower gender.

Women, it stops here. We're not that, and I know not many think that. Women are very confident, and that's one of our many perks. I know that for a fact.

Another thing...guys think all the things girls do are silly. Clothes, makeup, hair, squealing, sleepovers, all that shindig--they think its ridiculous. But I tell you, its not. It's what makes us us.

And hey, guys do weird things too. I'm not going to go into detail...

I don't really know what my point is, but I don't like being looked at as silly. Now I'm no makeup/hair guru, but I do like being what I am. I'm a girl, and I'm going to embrace that. Guys should accept it to.

I'm not dissing boys or men, honestly. I just wanted to put that all out there.

You're beautiful, all of you.

Sorry for the rant.

Stay awesome.

Dip graham crackers in water.

Take your unicorn to the water park sometimes.

Bye.

Inspirations and the sweet things in life...

Every writer needs them, right?

These are just a few things that help me with my writing...

Books. I have piles of them sitting by my laptop, so whenever I need a pick-me-up, I read one. Not just a favourite scene. I go from the beginning and continue on until the end... each time. Even when they get boring I plow along, because as my writing improves, I notice new things.
Three good ones to check out are Me, Just Different by Stephanie Morrill, The Crimson Banner by Jennifer Sauer, and The Silent Governess by Julie Klassen.

Clothing. Laugh all you want but I write so much better when I feel beautiful than when I don't. :) Clothes that inspire me when I wear them are mainly skirts and cute socks.

Music. So I'm not big into music but the right song is really awesome to listen to while you write.
Some of my favourites are Blessings, by Laura Story, and Cinderella, by Steven Curtis Chapman. And I love love LOVE the soundtrack for that awesome movie called Tangled.

THIS blog inspires me. It's SO awesome. :)

Life is full of so many sweet and inspiring things. :) Here are just a few from the past week...

Eating frozen raspberries and watching Phineas and Ferb.

Finishing a chapter of my novel.

Babysitting a dog.

Cake.

Sleeping with my bunny.

So...

Keep growing beautiful.

Make sure your unicorn gets excercise every day.

Draw with Sharpies.

Sneezes.

I have the sneezes.

I sneezed 27 times yesterday (twice when I was getting my teeth cleaned...) and today I'm going on 11, and its only 12:30.

But that's okay, because I like sneezes. They makes me feel better.

None of my sneezes are ever the same.

I usually do a weird "Aa--aa-aa--snorkle-CHEW!" Or something along the lines. It doesn't sound like a sneeze when I'm actually sneezing, but then I let out my breath in a little squeak. That's the norm, and its quite odd.

I also like trying to say "Sneeze!" when I sneeze. Usually that results in a disgusted scream for a tissue, but sometimes it works.

Other times I try to keep my eyes open when I sneeze. I'll just say--don't try that in public, folks.

Then there's the Gollywhopper; you just let it out. Mouth wide, head back, totally unprepared. That one feels relieving, just to sneeze.

Anyhoo. I felt the need to blog about this.

But yeah. I have the sneezes.

Stay awesome.

Run into walls.

Dip graham crackers in water.

Peace.

This is me...

The Canadian blogger here!!

Hi! I'm Maddy! I'm five feet eight inches and don't give me coffee or chocolate-coffee because I'll go nuts! I have about a billion stuffed animals and books. There's nothing I like better then to read until midnight, wake up the next morning exhausted, and go through my day wishing it was bedtime again.

I am extremely hyper, but I have a serious side too. I am a dedicated musician and play in an orchestra. I write, but I don't write for fun... I write for satisfaction. My favourite kind of book is a medieval romances and I love to fill my wall with posters, calendar pull-outs, cards, pictures, and business cards.

I have completed two novels, started way more, and am working on about four or five currently, plus editing others.

I have two siblings, a brother, sixteen, and a sister, age fourteen. Both are older than me. I should probably mention that the design on this blog is all done by my brother, I had no part in brainstorming or otherwise. And any book cover in the OUR BOOKS section of this blog is probably done by him too.

I love to dream about things I know will never happen.

Jesus Christ means everything to me.

I dip graham crackers in water.

I have a pet unicorn.

I like Root Beer better than Coke (in my circle of family and friends, this is considered rebellion :).

So hi!

And remember, never ever ever ever ever turn your back on a leprechaun. They might just... disappear.

Why, hello there!

Tis the Texan girl of this blog, Erin. This is my first post in this collab-blog, as you so may call it, and I'm quite excited about this. Maddy, the other blogger, will totally outshine me with her wonderful blogging skills, but I may as well try, eh?

All right. SO. My name is Erin. I'm fifteen and three-quarters and almost 5 feet tall. I have a pet unicorn, I eat cereal at least twice a day, and I have no balance whatsoever. On my posts you'll probably be hearing some adventures of mine, since I have them every day. I'm an awkward person. I have many odd habits. I'm not going to bore you with details.

I'm a writer. Writing is my passion, and so far I have completed three full-length novels, two of which are still going through a long and sweaty editing process in which I pull out my hair on many occasions and often scream at my characters. I'm soon going to self-publish those two, and that's really exciting for me.

I'm also an aspiring film director. I love making short films, book trailers, the like. I love acting too, but its really being behind the camera that I love.

Oh! I'm a neat freak. I'll only get into a rant if I talk about this, but I'll just say messy is my enemy. It feels like death. So I'm a neat freak. Unlike Maddy, I keep my clothes where they belong and my head still in the clouds ;)

But yes. That is me, and this is my first blog post. This will be a fun ride.
Stay awesome.
Don't eat leprechauns.
Write away.

Hello and Welcome!

Head in the Clouds is a blog written by two aspiring authors, both in their teen years.

On it we hope to talk not only about our writing journey, but everyday life as well.

This is a little about us:

Erin (epicerin96)

I'm a tiny speck on this universe. I see things different. I'm lost in this thing called life, and I'm loving it.
Teenager. Writer. Dreamer.

Maddy (♫book blogger)

I'm a teen who keeps her clothes on the floor and her head in the clouds. I'm a Christian and my prayer is to glorify God through writing and music. I love red shoes, wedding dresses, flowers, whip cream, and coffee.

We have never met each other, but pray that God will give us an opportunity to one day do so.

So hello and welcome to our world!

Love from
Maddy and Erin
